I was at a tasting for District 10’s new “From mama, with love” menu, and I think you should make it a point to drop by UE Square’s District 10 Bar & Restaurant this week to try these 3 dishes…
1. The Beef Ravioli
Ravioli Alla Fornarina Con Tartufo Nero (28++) is a mouthful – both to pronounce and eat, but you should definitely order it. It’s not a one-man dish, mostly because it’s a heavy, oily dish. BUT, I must say it works. The ravioli is handmade, so it’s firm but not tough and holds everything together. The inside is just a great combination of ricotta cheese, black angus mince and a flowy egg yolk. There’s a solid fragrance to it, but the winner here is that truffle/egg yolk/beef combination that is satisfying as heck. It’s not rocket science, but it’s from the heart.
2. Wagyu Meatball Pizza
It’s properly called Villaggio di Bergamo Pizza ($26++) but I prefer “Wagyu meatball pizza” because that’s what it is. It’s deceptively simple because the base is made up of Mozzarella, Basil and extra virgin olive oil, but the crust was crunchy on the outside and just slightly chewy closer to the middle. What really got me were the perfectly seasoned meatballs, juicy with wagyu fat but not overtly salty as meatballs tend to be. I’d be very happy if I had just the meatballs, doused with a generous serving of Raclette cheese, but that’s just a food fantasy of mine.
3. Seafood Linguine
Mare d monti ($28++) sounds quite sexy, and it certainly is enticing to the tastebuds. This seafood linguine is chockful of succulent prawns, firm squid and perfectly cooked pasta. The tomato base is lightly flavoured with basil oregano, and carries with it just a light touch of sea brine at the tail end of its flavour profile. This seafood linguine is a winner in my book!
A place for friends
District 10 Bar & Restaurant’s new “From mama, with love” menu is the first time Chef Luca Pezzera’s family favourites have been brought to the tables of the restaurant. All of the dishes here have been adapted from the food that his mother served him in his childhood years. These dishes, together with a solid beer or some cocktails, can be shared heartily with a group of 4 – 6 people, so remember to rally up some friends and dig in to a memorable meal!
